A masterclass and tasting was hosted in each city for the trade in order to update buyers, press and sommeliers on the wines of Uruguay and show some of the latest vintages and new launches. Amanda Barnes, author of The South America Wine Guide and specialist in the wines of Uruguay, taught both masterclasses which explored a distinctive range of grape varieties, wine regions, producers and styles.

In both cities, the masterclasses were attended by buyers for the monopolies of Sweden and Norway, as well as other importers, press and sommeliers. Uruguay’s Ambassador to Sweden, Denmark and Norway, Federico Perazza kicked off the Scandinavian tour by delivering an official welcome speech at the masterclass on Wednesday 22nd May in Stockholm, before the tour moved to Oslo for a masterclass on Friday 24th May.

Participating in both masterclasses were: Bodega Bouza, Cerro del Toro, Los Cerros de San Juan, Hacienda del Sacramento, De Lucca, Viña Edén, Cerro Chapeu, Bodega Garzòn and Vermut Flores. In addition, Proyecto Nakkal and Marichal participated in Sweden, and Familia Deicas and Finca Las Violetas participated in Norway.
